The Bruno Family moved to Colorado Springs in the summer of 2022 after being stationed in the Washington DC metro area for four years and all over the US and the world previously. They were so excited to move to Colorado, find Wild Blue Cats, and start volunteering!
Sarah and Matt met while they were both in the Air Force and have been married for 18 years. Sarah is from South Carolina and Matt is from Pennsylvania.
Sarah grew up in the animal rescue world; her parents have been volunteering and fostering cats and kittens since she was very young. At times there were up to 27 cats and kittens in the house! Her home county in South Carolina is a success story, which has allowed cat rescue to expand to a nearby rural county to save precious lives in a wider area, which proves that “it can be done!” Sarah continued the tradition of helping cats after leaving home. In college, she and her roommate fostered bottle baby kittens and helped with emergency transport. After joining the Air Force, Sarah continued to volunteer at a variety of shelters wherever she was stationed, including ones in which she was the only volunteer not there by court order or work release! Some of her best memories are weekends with her sister at Best Friends in Utah. Sarah is currently a dental hygienist and would love to become certified to assist with cat dental treatments.
Matt grew up on a farm, working hard hauling water, coal, and hay while surrounded by horses, cattle dogs, goats, and cows. He was never a cat person until he met Sarah, but like so many others, is now a fully-converted cat person. He faithfully volunteers at whichever Wild Blue volunteer events Sarah tells him! Matt recently transferred to the Space Force.
The three Bruno Family cats are Jasper (15, a rescue cat), and Violet (8) and Cody (kitten), who were both adopted from Wild Blue Cats.
