Debbie grew up an Army brat which allowed her the wonderful opportunity to live throughout the world…….she was born in Japan, and started 1st grade in France, finally graduating from high school in Greece. She now tells her grandkids the stories. She is an ex-nurse who worked in the VA system during the Vietnam war. There, she met Bruce who is now retired from the Air Force. The Air Force Academy is what brought her to Colorado Springs over 30 years ago when Bruce was a glider instructor. Their children grew up here in Colorado Springs, left to attend college, and lucky for them, they returned to live here.
She was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for 15 years as a voice for abused children in the court system. In her committed advocacy for kids, she was awarded CASA volunteer of the year in 2001. She took a break and decided to get involved with Wild Blue after meeting Lauri in a grocery store parking lot while evacuating from the Black Forest wildfires.
Being involved with Wild Blue has been such an honor for her. She loves all animals, great and small. Getting to know the people at Wild Blue and of course, especially the Wild Blue fur-babies has been the best part of her involvement. She loves being a part of such an important effort.
Thank you, Debbie, so much for your time and commitment!
