Join us in congratulating our volunteer of the month for January, Amy Mayberry!
When asked to share a little bit about how she got involved in Wild Blue, here is what she said.
My husband, Matt, and I have four kids (ages 8-13) in addition to 3 cats (two adopted from Wild Blue – Charley in 2016 and Valette in 2017), 2 dogs, 2 horses, and 10 chickens. I’ve always loved animals, so volunteering with Wild Blue has been such a joy for me! I first heard of Wild Blue in 2012 when we had a semi-feral kitty frequenting our bird feeder for meals; I reached out to Lauri, and we were able to get him neutered and vaccinated through Wild Blue’s TNR program. Fast forward to 2016 – shortly after adopting our cat Charley, I started helping at the Sanctuary on Friday mornings. On one of those mornings, a sick kitten was brought to the rescue needing to be cared for until he was ready for adoption – that began our role as a Wild Blue foster family.
In the last few months, I’ve started helping with grant writing, which I really enjoy. I’m learning a lot and love the opportunity to apply for funds that will benefit the Wild Blue kitties we all love so much! It’s truly a privilege to volunteer alongside so many people who are passionate about caring for the cats in our community.
